When your father is No Limit Records founder Master P, it's kind of a given that you'll enter the family business. Such is the case for Cymphonique, Master P's daughter. The now-20-year-old star is readying her upcoming EP No Days Off and has premiered a video for her track "Hold You Down."
"Hold You Down" is a throwback of sorts. Musically, the song throws back to the R&B of the '90s, which often found a sweet-voiced artist singing over a familiar soul sample. In this case, Cymphonique delivers her loving vocal over a loop of Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan's classic "Sweet Thing." Though the song has been sampled, covered and interpolated many times over, Cymphonique actually does it a bit of justice as she sings over the familiar lilting guitar riff. She, of course, keeps things updated for the new generation, including mentions of FaceTime and asking that her man keeps it 100 with her.
The video for the track is a bit of a throwback as well. She keeps things pretty cute and sweet as she sings to the camera and catches some boo time with her love interest. But the main focus of the clip is Cymphonique, who holds it down while covered in labels from Fendi to Fila to YSL and more. It's a street but sweet aesthetic that might have you recalling the early videos of Aaliyah and Brandy as we watch her get flirty and cute both out and about and at home.
