Little Dragon has made a name for themselves with their future-leaning musical stylings. They've also done the same on the visual tip with music videos that veer from the norm in unexpected and delightful ways. With the release of their fifth studio album, Season High, they've kept up the tradition with clips for "High" and "Sweet," though both were kind of subdued by LD terms. Don't you worry, though, as LD gets back to ethereally weird form in the video for Season High's third single, "Celebrate."
We can't say there's much going on in the way of plot in the visual, but what it lacks in cohesive narrative, it makes up for in eye-popping effects. Lead singer Yukimi Nagano is perched on a cliff covered in shimmery, gauzy fabric as she sings over the '80s throwback production. Meanwhile, we get city images, visions of glitchy special effects, a decorative piñata that bleeds neon green paint and even more. Along the way, we're also treated to an impromptu shirtless guitar solo as LD's drummer Erik Boden gets more screen time than he's probably gotten in the band's entire history.
Our suggestion? Watch the video ready to be tripped out (our with an *ahem* herbal remedy on deck) and let the undeniable groove and Yukimi's vocals handle the rest. Peep Little Dragon's visual for "Celebrate" below.
