New Jersey-based Korean-American singer/songwriter ANE, whose stage name is an acronym for "A New Era" and is pronounced "Ann-nee," is paving the way for the release of her upcoming EP, Bitan. Dropping in the coming months, she's already released the first single "R.S.D." and its remix by Soulection affiliate Singularis. Now she's ready to unleash something new from the project, the single "All That I Want."
Over a soothing electronic soundbed of synths and a drum pattern provided by production duo WOKELAND, ANE sings to her lover about wanting to get away from it all. She's trying to bring this fantasy to life in the lyrics: "So tell me are you bout it / Are you trying to go with me tonight? / I don't care about the money / We gon' live a different kind of life / Wanna wake up with the sunbeam in my eyes / That's all that I want." On the surface, this may seem like a simple invitation to take a vacation, but according to ANE, the song has a deeper meaning. "'All That I Want' is about bargaining and denial, the third stage in grief. It uses escapism and false hope to paint a picture of fantasy," she states, so hold off on packing your bags.
