July might be known for a lot of things, but if Denitia has her way, it'll be her month. A few weeks back, she brought us her single "Waiting" along with news of her upcoming EP Ceilings. Now the New York City-based singer-songwriter is offering up the set's closing track "Planes" ahead of the project's release later this month.
"Planes," like "Waiting," finds Denitia starting with a slow, soft burn before her vocal is joined by a mixture of synth, piano, drums, bass and guitar. Unlike "Waiting," however, she keeps the vibe fairly mellow. It's a sensible choice, as this time the lyrics are focusing on wanderlust and searching for more. "Where do you go with your soft eyes? / Where do you run? / Where do you hide?" she asks on the song's chorus. That wondering and wandering is echoed in the music, which ebbs and flows as needed, reaching its glorious peak as the song ends and each part reverberates against another.
Having heard two of the five selections from Ceilings, it's safe to say that we'll probably be digging this one once it arrives on the scene. You can look for the set to arrive in unlimited digital form on July 21st and pre-order the EP here. But before you reserve your copy, check out "Planes" below.
