Sudanese producer Sufyvn and BJ The Chicago Kid just teamed up to drop off a loosie for the romantics among us. If you know anything about BJ, you're already aware that any track featuring his velvety vocals automatically makes you fall in love. And that's what happens in "Thinking 'Bout You (Sleepless In Cairo)." The duo give us an uptempo R&B ditty with hip-hop undertones, packaged and ready to get added to your red light special playlist.
If you're wondering how the partnership came about, we have Spotify to thank for it. The new track is a part of their "I'm with the banned" series, which features music and videos from artists from Iran, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Sudan and Libya — the six countries affected by President Orange's controversial proposed travel ban. The series will also address other issues from immigration to LGBTQ equality through artist collaborations, performances and original content. Other collaborating artists include Desiigner, Pusha T, X Ambassadors, K.Flay and Dr. Lonnie Smith.
If you want to learn more about Sufvyn, he recently released his EP Ascension on Spotify, which highlights his Sudanese culture and has a sprinkle of dance, R&B and hip-hop in the mix. "While people can't travel, music will," says Spotify so go ahead and take yourself on a trip when you listen to "Thinking 'Bout You (Sleepless In Cairo)" right here. Be sure to watch the trailer for "I'm with the banned" below and stay tuned for more information about the project.
